Challenge

The WHO Foundation, the fundraising arm of the World Health Organization, needed compelling, deeply reported stories to showcase innovations in global health. The goal was to highlight real-life impact by sharing authentic stories of people whose lives were improved by the WHO and its partners. These stories needed to resonate with key stakeholders – donors, governments, and high-net-worth individuals – by providing genuine, non-promotional storytelling that inspired engagement and support.

Approach

Astra leveraged its extensive global network of journalists to create several feature articles each month for the WHO Foundation. By sourcing in-country reporters to work from the field, we ensured each story carried valuable local perspective and authenticity. Stories were developed from diverse locations, including Ethiopia, India, and the United States, to reflect the Foundation’s global reach and impact.

Results

The WHO Foundation has significantly increased engagement with its stakeholders by sharing these stories online, at conferences, and during key meetings. This authentic storytelling has raised awareness of critical funding needs, fostered greater collaboration, and opened new opportunities for partnerships with donors and governments worldwide.
